Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali has openly set the price-tag for Davide Frattesi at €35-40m, confirming Roma and Inter are in talks, while Milan set up a meeting.

The Italy international is at the centre of the Serie A transfer window, as although Juventus seem to have pulled out, there remains strong interest from several clubs.

After weeks of speculation, Carnevali came out and declared the asking price to sell Frattesi this summer.

“The price is circa €35-40m, that is what we consider to be the value of the player,” Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are not a club that sets up a bidding war. We have always been clear on the price that we are asking for.”

It would’ve been a wider battle, had Frattesi not announced he did not wish to leave Serie A at this stage of his career, therefore cutting out the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United.

“He decided that he wanted to stay in Italy, we had already started negotiations to sell abroad for roughly that price. There are several clubs we are talking to, I think it will take a while.

“If we manage to get the figure that we are asking for, we’re happy to close the deal tonight. Sassuolo do not have the urgency to sell Frattesi, so if we find the right project for him and for us, then we will let him go, otherwise we will not exclude keeping the player with us.”

While Inter are the favourites and must first sell Marcelo Brozovic to Al-Nassr, one cannot discount the Roma factor, especially as Frattesi is a lifelong supporter and the Giallorossi still have a 30 per cent cut of his future transfer fee.

“We have a bond with Roma and when we had this deal within June 30 for these youth players, we gave them a helping hand. It’s true they were the first to ask for Frattesi a year ago, but we were very distant in the valuations. Now, we are significantly closer, so we’ll see what happens.”

Is it true that Milan called to set up a meeting over Frattesi?

“That is true.”
