Sassuolo appear to have missed out on Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic, as he is instead very close to signing for FC Porto.

The 25-year-old Serbia international had been mentioned as a potential heir to Manuel Locatelli, who is at the centre of a bidding war between Arsenal and Juventus.

However, according to Tuttomercatoweb, Grujic is on the verge of making his move to Porto permanent instead.

He already spent last season there on loan, making 39 competitive appearances for the Portuguese side, scoring two goals.

There were also previous loan spells at Red Star Belgrade, Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin.

Grujic has 12 senior caps under his belt for Serbia.
