Gremio pair Matheus Henrique and Ruan both had their medicals for Sassuolo today, completing a double move worth €16m.

According to Sky Sport Italia, midfielder Matheus Henrique had his medical in Italy this morning, whereas defender Ruan remained in Porto Alegre for the tests.

That is because Ruan will remain on loan at Gremio until January 2022, where Matheus Henrique should begin training with the Neroverdi later this week.

The double deal was struck for a total of circa €16m, with 23-year-old midfielder Matheus Henrique widely expected to be the replacement in the Sassuolo squad for Manuel Locatelli.

Those negotiations with Juventus should continue today and the clubs are confident they will agree terms eventually, probably a loan with obligation to buy, allowing the Bianconeri to spread out the cost of the operation.

Henrique already has one senior cap for Brazil under his belt, which he was awarded in October 2019.

Ruan is a 22-year-old centre-back who has been compared to Roma defender Roger Ibanez.
