Mattia Viti is on his way to Sassuolo from OGC Nice, but there are now reports this includes an option to make the move permanent.

It was reported on Monday that the deal would be a dry loan for the season in order to give the 21-year-old some regular playing time.

However, now different sources including Tuttomercatoweb and Goal.com suggest there is also an option to buy set at €9m plus bonuses.

It could also be an obligation to buy if certain targets are achieved.

Nice spent €13m plus bonuses to sign Viti from Empoli in the summer of 2022, also leaving the Tuscans a 10 per cent cut of the future transfer fee.

This will be a reunion for the defender with his former Empoli coach Alessio Dionisi, who is now in charge of the Neroverdi.

The Italy Under-21 international only made 12 competitive appearances for Nice last season, but still managed to score a goal in Ligue 1.
