Giovanni Carnevali confirmed that Sassuolo talent Giacomo Raspadori is close to completing a move to Napoli.

The Partenopei are working desperately to sign the 22-year-old Italian forward this summer, believing him to be the perfect addition to their revitalised squad. Previously key figures like Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne and Kalidou Koulibaly have all departed to make way for young players, and Raspadori looks set to add to this evolution.

Speaking to SportMediaset, Carnevali discussed the current state of the Raspadori negotiations and when a deal will be completed with Napoli.

“I hope that the deal for Raspadori is not far away, we would like everything to be finalised before the season one way or another. We have been talking for days with Napoli. Let’s see what we’ll do with them.

“We would gladly keep the player but we know he wants to go to a big club. He will go there under the right conditions. It is not an easy negotiation. There is a time in which we have to close it out, and it’s a few days, within this week at the most.”

The 22-year-old Raspadori shined last season under Alessio Dionisi, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 36 Serie A appearances. The talented forward is also a regular feature in Roberto Mancini’s Italy set-up and he was a part of the squad that won Euro 2020 last year.
