Sassuolo: ‘Didn’t consider Berardi bids’

Sassuolo’s CEO praises the “great relationship” with Napoli, but says they only considered “an option” on Domenico Berardi.

In the final days of the transfer window, it was reported that the Neroverdi forward could sign for the Partenopei, but be loaned back for a season.

“He [Berardi] had so many offers, both from Italy and abroad,” Giovanni Carnevali admitted on Radio Crc.

In the final days of the transfer window, it was reported that the Neroverdi forward could sign for the Partenopei, but be loaned back for a season.

“He [Berardi] had so many offers, both from Italy and abroad,” Giovanni Carnevali admitted on Radio Crc.

“We were clear from the outset with these clubs and with the player, we consider him important and we never considered any offer for him, other than the hypothesis of an option.

“We want to be free to choose and evaluate what’s happening, because there’s nothing to say he won’t stay with us in the future. There’s no rush.

“Could Napoli come back in for him? There’s a great relationship between the two clubs, but I don’t know.

“It’s normal that Napoli are looking for great players, and Mimmo is that. If they want to talk then we’re very much available.

“We were interested in [Duvan] Zapata, but we had to be careful on Financial Fair Play and that wasn’t our primary need, so we thought their asking price was too much for us.”
