Sassuolo defender Kaan Ayhan is pushing for a move to Besiktas, confirmed the player’s father. ‘The priority is an agreement between the clubs.’

The centre-back has barely featured so far this season, making three substitute appearances for a total 97 minutes of Serie A football.

He is a Turkey international with four goals in 44 senior caps, although born and raised in Germany, where he moved from Fortuna Dusseldorf to Sassuolo in September 2020.

“Kaan is a Sassuolo player, but if Besiktas convince Sassuolo, then we’ll sit down at a table with them to discuss it,” father and agent Erol Ayhan told reporters.

“The priority is an agreement between the clubs.”

Ayhan turns 27 next month and is under contract with the Neroverdi until June 2024.

His previous clubs include Schalke 04 and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Since moving to the Mapei Stadium, he has made just 23 competitive appearances in the Sassuolo jersey.
