Sassuolo coach Alessio Dionisi admits he can’t wait for the transfer window to close, as West Ham United raise their offer for Gianluca Scamacca.

The Neroverdi played their final pre-season friendly of the Vipiteno training camp, beating Serie B side Sudtirol 2-0 with goals from Matheus Henrique and summer signing Agustin Alvarez, who converted from the penalty spot.

Scamacca did not take part in the match, further fuelling speculation that he has already played his last game in the Sassuolo jersey.

Sky Sport Italia and Sky Sports UK both claim today that West Ham increased their offer for Scamacca to circa €40m, although that is still some way off the €50m asking price.

It is nonetheless an improvement on the Paris Saint-Germain proposal, which is in the region of €30m plus bonuses.

As for coach Dionisi, he is increasingly frustrated with the situation dragging on amid uncertainty and the season kicking off in under a month.

“Scamacca didn’t do as much in training as the others and we didn’t want to risk him,” Dionisi told Tuttomercatoweb.

“What I’d like from the transfer market is for it to close as soon as possible, so we don’t need to keep talking about it.

“If there are no further sales, then it’ll be easier to work in training, otherwise we’ll have to keep making do with what we have.

“A coach has to be a coach, then along with the directors find the right alchemy for the squad, but it’s important to respect one’s roles.”
