Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali provided an update on the future of Davide Frattesi, highlighting how the club ‘will continue with Frattesi next season’ should adequate offers not arrive.

The 23-year-old midfielder has become one of the hottest topics of the summer transfer window in Serie A, with a number of top clubs including Inter, Milan, Juventus and Roma all keen to snap him up.

Inter are in pole position in the race for Frattesi and have been trying to sell Marcelo Brozovic to Al-Nassr to fund a move. The Saudi side lowered their offer for the Croatian, however, causing things to stall.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset, Carnevali first discussed his upcoming meeting with Inter.

“We will meet Inter, but also many other clubs. We are at the beginning, we are far away, today we will see what will happen.”

The Neroverdi CEO confirmed that the club haven’t been impressed by any offers yet.

“At the moment several clubs have chances to sign him, not only Inter and Roma, but what I can say is that we are not satisfied with any of the offers that have arrived so far, we believe that Frattesi’s value is higher.”

Finally, Carnevali underlined how Sassuolo would be happy to keep Frattesi should a deal fail to materialise.

“We are in a favourable condition as a club, having made important sales last year. If there are opportunities fine, if not we will continue with Frattesi next season.”

This season, Frattesi scored seven goals in 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo.

  1. italian players like Frattesi must put buyout clause in every contract especially with small clubs. otherwise we lose all the Italian talents to other leagues where they always fail their and get lost.
