Sassuolo boss Alessio Dionisi tells Gianluca Scamacca to return to the Mapei Stadium and insists Davide Frattesi will start the pre-season with the Neroverdi.

The Italian tactician spoke to reporters Wednesday night during the Trofeo Maestrelli in Montecatini.

Sassuolo midfielder Frattesi is one of the most wanted players in Italy but the Neroverdi have yet to receive official offers.

Juventus, Milan, Inter and Roma are all interested in the Italy international.

“As of today, he is among the players who will start the pre-season with us,” said Dionisi as quoted by ForzaRoma.info.

“Of course, there are many rumours about him, you [journalists] hope this situation continues, but I hope it will stop sooner or later. I think he deserves a different stage, the time has come, but he’s not the only one.”

Sassuolo director Giovanni Carvenali held talks with Roma this week after meeting Inter. Frattesi has already agreed to personal terms with the Nerazzurri who must sell Marcelo Brozovic to afford his signature.

Roma are also interested in Scamacca who is not only a former teammate of Frattesi at Sassuolo, Lazio and Roma’s youth sectors, but also one of his closest friends.

“We are on good terms, I spoke to him [Scamacca] a few months ago,” said Dionisi.

“If I had to give him tips, I’d talk to him directly. The only thing I’d tell him is to pick Sassuolo. He will make the best choice with his entourage.”

West Ham are unwilling to loan out Scamacca and have already rejected an opening bid made by Roma. Milan are also interested in the Italy international who has been out of action with a knee injury in the last months of 2022-23.
