Sassuolo are looking towards Gremio midfielder Matheus Henrique to replace Juventus-bound Manuel Locatelli.

It seems to be a question of when rather than if Locatelli manages to get the transfer to Juve, as he rejected a bigger offer from Arsenal, while the clubs try to whittle down the details.

That means the Neroverdi need a replacement and it’s reported they have found the suitable candidate in Brazil.

Tuttomercatoweb claim they are targeting Gremio midfielder Matheus Henrique, who is currently at the Tokyo Olympics for Brazil.

The 23-year-old already has one senior cap for Brazil, having also made 14 appearances with one goal at Under-23 level.

He is under contract with Gremio until December 2023 and only extended the deal in January.

Matheus Henrique made 22 appearances for the club last season, contributing three goals and one assist.

The asking price is believed to be in the region of €20m, although Sassuolo could propose a loan with option to buy deal that would raise his profile in Serie A.
