Sarri to fly in for Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri is expected in London on Monday to begin in earnest the process of taking over from Antonio Conte as manager of Chelsea.

The tactician has practically agreed a deal with Napoli to terminate his contract by mutual consent for €5m.

Although he was technically fired to make way for Carlo Ancelotti last month, the contract remains in place and can only be terminated bilaterally.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis tried to muddy the waters by suggesting he had never received a call from Chelsea.

That is technically true, but only because the matter is being discussed via intermediary Fali Ramadani.

It’s widely reported Sarri will sign a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge with a salary worth €6m per season.

According to Il Mattino, the Coach has decided to live within the Cobham training centre in South-West London.

Meanwhile, Conte faces two choices – either accept a termination by mutual consent with Chelsea or accept his dismissal and €9m pay-out.
