Maurizio Sarri has an interesting way of ensuring his Lazio players pass to feet – threatening to give a penalty for long balls.

The former Napoli, Chelsea and Juventus coach is well known for his ‘Sarriball’ or ‘Sarrismo’ style, all based around quick passing moves, one or two touches at most.

During today’s training session, Sarri was heard giving some very precise orders to Elseid Hysaj and anyone else who was guilty of trying a long ball during their game between ranks.

“If I see you lift that ball one more time, I’ll give a penalty to the other team!”

Hysaj of all people ought to know that by now, as he worked with Sarri at both Empoli and Napoli.

Jony limped off after he put his right ankle down awkwardly and is in doubt for tomorrow’s friendly against Padova.
