Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam could reunite with Maurizio Sarri at Lazio, as the clubs are reportedly in negotiations for a January transfer to the Stadio Olimpico.

The 30-year-old Algerian was considered one of the best left-backs in the world when impressing for Sarri’s Napoli, but his career was derailed by a series of devastating injuries.

The issues started in November 2017 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, then fractured the kneecap during his recovery process.

There was another ACL tear in March 2021, with muscular problems relapsing after such a long time off the pitch.

Ghoulam scored two goals and provided 17 assists for the Partenopei under Sarri from 2015 to 2018.

He joined the Partenopei in January 2014 from Saint-Etienne and his current contract is due to expire on June 30, so he would be available for a very small fee.

Ghoulam has managed to make nine appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia so far this season.
