Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri admits his Arrigo Sacchi inspiration and calls Daniele Rugani “the best young player in Italy.”
The Coach sat down with the Corriere dello Sport newspaper and confirmed his intention to sign centre-back Rugani after six months on the Juventus bench.
“Who is the best young player in Italy? In my view Rugani. He has extraordinary capabilities and concentration. I gave him his debut at Empoli when he was 18.
“He will be a very important player for the future of Italian football.”

Juve have repeatedly rejected offers for Rugani, despite giving him only six minutes on the field this season.
Under Sarri, Rugani played every single minute of Serie A football at Empoli last season, all without earning a single booking.
The tactician has been compared to Milan legend Sacchi for his ability to rise through the ranks with ideas rather than his own football career.
“I started out as a full-back, then moved to central defence. Let’s be honest, I wasn’t a champion and the highest level I played at was Serie D. Meanwhile, I was working at a bank and that I was good at, so I worked to bring some money home.
“Football, like everything, requires analysis, thought and reflection beyond experience you’ve been through personally.
“I have studied a great deal, above all the work and innovation of Sacchi, who was a revolutionary of football. That’s why I liked him so much.”
