Maurizio Sarri reveals Ciro Immobile has a chance to play against Juventus tomorrow and insists the Bianconeri ‘underestimated’ the Serie A title he won in 2020.

Sarri’s Lazio host Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico tomorrow.

It kicks off at 17.00 UK time.

It’s the first time Sarri meets his former club Juventus since the Old Lady sacked him in 2020.

Sarri won the title that season, but somehow that was not enough to continue with the Bianconeri.

According to reports in Italy, he told Juventus’ chiefs that the team was ‘untrainable’ when the Bianconeri sacked him.

“I’ve never said that publicly. It’s something that journalists say I’ve said,” Sarri claimed in his pre-match press conference.

“I won a title at Juventus and it’s something important for me after 20 years of sacrifices.

“I arrived at Juventus at a particular moment. They had won eight titles and it was inevitable that they would give that title for granted. But it was a difficult season also because of the lockdown.”

Ciro Immobile missed Italy’s last two games against Switzerland and Northern Ireland and was expected to sit out the match against Juventus.

However, Sarri revealed that Immobile could be fit to play.

“The injury is solved. There’s just a small sign that indicates there is still a slight risk. He will undergo further medical examinations tomorrow morning. It’s up to him and the medical staff.”
