According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga is Maurizio Sarri’s favourite option as the new Lazio goalkeeper.

The Biancocelesti will change their shot-stopper in 2022-23. Pepe Reina’s contract expires in June, but it will be automatically extended by one season if Lazio qualify for Europe this season. Thomas Strakosha also sees his current deal expire in the summer and seems unlikely to renew.

Earlier this week, Il Corriere della Sera reported that Lazio had set their sights on Pierluigi Gollini, who is expected to return to Atalanta at the end of his loan spell at Tottenham. He won’t stick around for long in Bergamo with Atalanta looking for a €10m sale.

Corriere dello Sport confirms the interest in Gollini but insists Chelsea’s Kepa is Sarri’s No.1 option for the summer. The Italian coach already worked with the Spaniard at Stamford Bridge in 2018-19.

According to the report, the only problem concerning Sarri’s interest in Kepa is Chelsea’s asking price and his €7m-a-year salary. Lazio can’t afford that and can only welcome the 27-year-old on loan with part of his salary paid by the Blues. PSG’s Sergio Rico, currently on loan at Mallorca, is also in Lazio’s sights.
