There were reports in La Stampa newspaper this morning that the coach and midfielder faced off in training, with the situation increasingly tense.

It would also seemingly lead to Pjanic being dropped for tomorrow evening’s Serie A trip to Bologna.

“That’s fake news, there was no argument,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

“He is one of the players I fielded the most this season and I have to rely on him, because he has a decisive role in the three-man midfield.”

There are rumours Rodrigo Bentancur will step into Pjanic’s shoes, with Aaron Ramsey coming in to midfield in place of the Uruguayan.

Sami Khedira and Alex Sandro are injured, with Gonzalo Higuain and Giorgio Chiellini unlikely to fully recover in time.

Sarri also mentioned to Sky Sport Italia that he would not rush Gonzalo Higuain back from his injury, but the Cristiano Ronaldo False 9 experiment is ditched already.

“I spoke to Ronaldo before the Milan semi-final and the Lazio Final. We talk. He tends to do his best work when starting slightly out wide.”
