Sarri: ‘Napoli working on mistakes’

Maurizio Sarri says Napoli are “working on our mistakes” but “I didn’t consider us phenomena 15 days ago and we’re not weak now”.

The Partenopei have lost their last two Serie A games, leaving them seven points off the top of the table, albeit with only eight games played.

Tomorrow sees the Neapolitans return to Champions League action against Besiktas, and the Coach is staying level-headed.

“I have total faith, a period like this can happen,” Sarri shrugged in his pre-match Press conference.

“I have total faith, a period like this can happen,” Sarri shrugged in his pre-match Press conference.

“We’re working on our mistakes and we’re confident. There’s no need to create big problems, tomorrow we have to keep the freedom in our head and trust in our ability.

“In sport all you have to do is drop by two per cent for someone to pass you, it’s not a drama.

“I didn’t consider us phenomena 15 days ago, and I don’t consider us weak now. It’s hard to keep things balanced in football though.”

Both at the start of the season and since Arkadiusz Milik’s injury, Manolo Gabbiadini has looked ineffective as the main striker, does he need to adapt his game?

“Manolo doesn’t have to adapt to me, but to this team which has a way of playing which I didn’t impose, but which goes with the features the wingers and the central midfielders have.

“No-one wants to go against the characteristics of a player, but no Coach would hinder seven or eight players for the benefit of one.

“Moving a few metres doesn’t mean dropping from 100 per cent efficiency to 50 per cent.”
