Maurizio Sarri described the importance of practice in Napoli’s style of football and likes an “angry” Gonzalo Higuain.

The Partenopei went 1-0 down after 90 seconds at the San Paolo when Nicola Rigoni gave Chievo the shock lead, but they fought back to win 3-1.

“I had no real doubts, as the second half performance against Fiorentina should give us confidence rather than concern,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Obviously conceding a goal after two minutes could be a heavy blow, but the lads reacted immediately and within half an hour turned it all around.

“It was a good performance from the lads, no better than in other recent games where we didn’t win.”

Higuain appeared to be in a bad mood at the final whistle, as he stormed off without speaking to the media or even singing with the fans along with his teammates.

“I have a temperature, so the last thing I was interested in was why Higuain was in a mood. He’s a passionate guy and he really wanted that late goal that hit the bar.

“We like an angry Higuain, he’s fired up. I was pleased that in recent games we had many players attacking the crosses, as we worked on that this week and hadn’t been doing it enough lately.

“A marvellous movement with the wrong timing is useless. Clearly working on the timing of the movement is crucial.

“Jorginho’s passes are sparked by the movement in front of him, so the lads are all really good at this and we work on it regularly.

“Faouzi Ghoulam has great potential, worked really hard to improve his defensive movements and for much of the season that held him back from his usual attacking verve. Now he feels a little more confident in his defending and therefore is attacking more.”

Napoli are now joint top with Juventus, but Sarri won’t bother watching the Bianconeri’s game with Atalanta on Sunday afternoon.

“Even if we are close to the ‘cannibals’ up there, the fact remains they win more often than not.

“I feel terrible, so I will stay in bed tomorrow, only watching our game back to take notes and then immediately start studying our next opponents Palermo. I have no time to waste watching something I cannot have any influence on.”
