Maurizio Sarri told off Napoli for wasteful finishing, as “we deserved a bigger result” than 2-1 over Torino.
The Partenopei remain second, just one point off leaders Inter, but the Coach is rarely satisfied.
“The team played a great first half and we were unlucky to only be 1-0 up. There was a dip in intensity in the second half and I blame the long winter break,” Sarri told Mediaset Premium.

“The team played a great first half and we were unlucky to only be 1-0 up. There was a dip in intensity in the second half and I blame the long winter break,” Sarri told Mediaset Premium.
“We made the most of the time off to do extra fitness work and perhaps that gave the players some heavier legs than usual. We deserved a bigger result than 2-1, though.”
Lorenzo Insigne scored a magnificent goal and set up another for Marek Hamsik.
“I am happy with what he’s doing. Does he deserve to play for Italy? That’s up to Antonio Conte, I wouldn’t dare get involved in his decisions.”
The Coach was asked how he felt after Diego Armando Maradona publicly took back his criticism.
“It was enormously pleasing, but to be honest I was happy even when he criticised me. It meant Maradona had heard of me, which was immensely gratifying.”
Napoli are expected to be active in the January transfer window, but Sarri is not one to feed speculation.
“Quite simply the market bores me. It is easier to talk about transfers, but I like to discuss football. I speak to the director of sport every day, he knows what I think and vice-versa.”
