It is just a stone’s throw from his hometown and Sarri was asked about suggestions his Mother threatened not to talk to him anymore if he took the job with Fiorentina’s arch-rivals Juve.

“She was not at all happy, let’s put it that way…” smiled the Coach in a Press conference.

“My grandmother lived 500 metres from the stadium, so our family were all committed Viola fans, apart from me, as I supported Napoli.

“I have many memories of this stadium, but unfortunately the only one I can see right now is my most recent, as I lost a Scudetto here. I need to swiftly replace that with a positive memory.”

Sarri was born in Naples, where his father was working at the time, but moved back to Tuscany when he was little and maintained the Napoli passion.

He almost took the Serie A title to Napoli in 2018, but a 3-0 defeat at the Stadio Franchi effectively allowed Juve to retain their championship.
