Coach Maurizio Sarri confirms that Christian Maggio will play for Napoli against Midtjylland tomorrow evening.

However, the former Empoli boss is not sure if Ivan Strinic is ready to take the field in the Europa League clash.

“Maggio is a top player, who will go onto the pitch,” Sarri revealed in his pre-match Press conference.

“As for Strinic, we’ll assess the condition of [Faouzi] Ghoulam, who has played the most out of anyone  for us] because for his national team he’s played twice, and not four times like a lot of his teammates.

“Strinic has to do a bit more work tactically, but there’s been progress and we’re starting to take him into consideration.

“David Lopez? He’s doing well, but he’s more interchangeable with Allan than with [Marek] Hamsik.

“[Jacopo] Dezi has other characteristics, and there’s also [Nathaniel] Chalobah, but these are lads who have to grow.

“The latter, in addition to his young age also has the difficulty of adapting to another style of football, and needs a few months to feel at ease.”

The Vesuviani have only used 18 players in Serie A so far, the lowest in the League, but Sarri is not a believer in too much rotation.

“The teams which have used fewer players are usually the ones that do best. At first it was important for us to find an identity and give consistency to some players, particularly in defence.

“In the latest games some players are already starting to find space.”
