Maurizio Sarri shrugged off Napoli’s latest triumph, but told Lorenzo Insigne to apologise to his teammates for “lacking respect.”
The Partenopei remain in joint second place with their 2-0 win over Palermo, the ninth victory in 10 games in all competition, their fifth in a row in Serie A.
“Over the years excess has always complicated things in Naples,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

The Partenopei remain in joint second place with their 2-0 win over Palermo, the ninth victory in 10 games in all competition, their fifth in a row in Serie A.
“Over the years excess has always complicated things in Naples,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.
“We must remain balanced, as we’re only in Week 10. It would be absurd to discuss trophies or anything else, we must only focus on the next game. We are playing every three days and that makes dealing with tension difficult.
“In the past this side had struggled to deal with these situations, so now we must understand if we’ve found that long-awaited consistency. We are working on it and will see how we react to difficult moments.”
There was controversy when Insigne was substituted and vented his frustration at the Coach, but Sarri saw it a different way.
“At my age certain things don’t touch me. Lorenzo does need to explain this lack of respect towards his teammates. It can happen that someone is annoyed when they have to leave the game.”
Dries Mertens came on in Insigne’s place and scored a splendid goal with a strangely angry celebration.
“If Mertens gets performances like this, then I’m glad he’s angry!”
