Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri describes Diego Maradona as ‘a legend’ and hopes to change his mind after criticism.

The former Argentina international, who won two Scudetti with the Vesuviani, had some harsh criticism for the Coach this week, saying that his old club would not win under the former Empoli Coach.

“What I’d say about Maradona is that he’s a legend,” Sarri said in his Press conference ahead of the Europa League clash with Club Brugge.

“The fact he knows me is an honour, I’m not going to answer, I just hope to change his mind. The last few games have been different, against Empoli we came back twice and then put them under siege for 20 minutes.”

The Partenopei are yet to win under Sarri in a competitive match, but the tactician assures he’s not worried by results at this stage of the season.

“I live in the moment usually, and we need good results to help us grow. But at this time it’s right to focus on performance.

“We’re lacking in consistency, we play well in flashes, but to be honest there’s always a negative and we’re not satisfied.

“We have to improve quickly and getting a result would help us, but I’m concentrated on performances.”
