Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri celebrates Europa League qualification and reveals if Sergej Milinkovic-Savic does leave, ‘and that will not happen easily, he will not remain in Italy.’
There are numerous reports over the future of the Serbia international midfielder, who scored a last-gasp equaliser for this evening’s 2-2 draw with Juventus in Turin.
That result guarantees the Biancocelesti will finish in either fifth or sixth place, so qualify directly for the Europa League group stage.
However, will that be enough to keep Milinkovic-Savic at the Stadio Olimpico or will the club be tempted to sell?
“Speaking to the President, I have become convinced that if Milinkovic does leave, and that will not happen easily, he will not remain in Italy,” said Sarri during his press conference at the Allianz Juventus Stadium.
This would rule Juventus out of the equation, but leaves the door open for clubs such as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Milinkovic-Savic also spoke about his future to Sky Sport Italia after today’s 2-2 draw with Juventus.
“I improved under Sarri, I scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists, so I can say this has been the best season of my career. Next season, we need a few more players so we can aim for the Champions League places.”
