There are three options now for the tactician, as he could go to Chelsea, Zenit St Petersburg or take a year off.

According to several sources, including Sky Sport Italia pundit Gianluca Di Marzio and Sportitalia, Sarri’s entourage will be in London on Thursday for a meeting with Chelsea.

Sarri himself is not due to attend for the moment, but would be brought in at a later date if the initial negotiations go well.

At the same time, the Zenit alternative remains in place and his agent is also set for a meeting in St Petersburg over the next few days.

Chelsea have some decisions to make, as Antonio Conte is still under contract and refusing to resign, so the club will need to pay a hefty penalty to fire him early.

Sarri isn’t the only name on the Stamford Bridge list, as Luis Enrique is the other hot contender, with Laurent Blanc further behind.
