Maurizio Sarri feels Empoli should build on their performance against Juventus. “We won’t always be facing Gigi Buffon.”

The Tuscans were beaten 2-0 on home turf by an Andrea Pirlo free kick and Alvaro Morata curler.

“We did well in the first half and even better at the start of the second, but we conceded during our best period of play,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

“Unlike other recent games, we did react well to the goal and went close to equalising, but the second knocked the wind out of our sails.

“Unfortunately this is a bleak period and we are conceding during our best spells of play. With this intensity, I am convinced we will get back to picking up points soon. After all, we won’t always be facing Buffon and a motivated Juventus side.

“We’ve been working together for three years, so we have our own identity. I preferred to face Juventus openly rather than sit back and wait only to end up losing anyway.

“Even if we end up bottom of the table, we must always play our style of football.”
