According to Il Messaggero, Lazio are only €500,000 away from agreeing personal terms with new coach Maurizio Sarri.

The tactician had several meetings with the Aquile and their director Igli Tare over the last few days, after Simone Inzaghi left to take the Inter job.

The negotiations continue apace and Il Messaggero newspaper today reports that Lazio have offered €2.5m per season plus bonuses to reach €4m.

It’s suggested Sarri is asking for €3m plus bonuses, so the gap is minimal and should be resolved relatively easily.

Sky Sport Italia maintain Thursday will be decisive, as President Claudio Lotito will meet Sarri face-to-face before any decision is made.

The other options are also falling away, as Vincenzo Italiano seems set to extend at Spezia, while Sinisa Mihajlovic is staying with Bologna.

Andre Villas Boas had been mentioned, but cancelled his flight to Rome when finding out he wasn’t first choice for Lazio.
