Maurizio Sarri called all of his players into training on Monday morning, cancelling a scheduled day off as well as his customary pre-match press conference after Lazio’s 1-1 draw at home to Monza on Saturday afternoon.
It has been a poor start to the Serie A season for the Biancocelesti, who won just one of their opening five games of the 2023-24 season. Saturday’s result leave’s Sarri’s side 16th in the league table with an underwhelming four points from five fixtures.
The Lazio squad had been expecting a rest day on Monday, but Sarri and his staff went back on that decision and instead had the team working hard on the pitch at Formello.
There was a group of players who were on specialised recovery programmes according to reports from Tuttomercatoweb. Those included mainstays Luis Alberto, Ciro Immobile, Mattia Zaccagni, Alessio Romagnoli, Danilo Cataldi and Adam Marusic,
There will also not be a press conference held by Sarri on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday evening’s clash against Torino, but the Lazio boss will conduct pre-match interviews from the stadium.
