Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri is ‘angry about the Bologna match’ but defends his side’s conversion rate.

The Vesuviani were beaten 3-2 by the Rossoblu on Sunday, despite having 16 shots on goal during the game.

Sarri isn’t concerned with the finishing of chances but instead blames the ‘subconscious’ attitude of his players for the shock setback.

“I’m angry about the Bologna match because we didn’t play our usual game,” he said at today’s Press conference ahead of the Europa League match with Legia tomorrow.

“The guys messed up from the subconscious perspective. If I must lose I prefer to lose by playing our game, however we didn’t.

“Every match must be attacked, tomorrow we want to give an immediate signal that we’ve understood where we went wrong and that we can fix it right away.

“Napoli have come from a fifth-place finish, now the league is more competitive and there are more rivals, but this doesn’t mean that we want to come seventh. There are teams with bigger budgets, others that spent a lot in the summer, but these are the numbers that you can fail to live up to.

“We don’t give obligations to this team, it wouldn’t be honest, but if we play every match with heart we can achieve a lot. Our objective is the sum of each individual match.

“I don’t think our conversion rate is that low, it’s around 11 per cent which is in line with the other teams. We’re the team that has created the most chances and the second or third best attack, so there’s not a big difference.

“It’s clear that to finish a chance depends on many factors, from clarity of thought, but the importance is offer the chances, then there will be moments when the scoring percentage rises or falls.”
