The agent of Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri says “the reaction is what will be important” after defeat to Juventus.

The Partenopei were defeated 1-0 at Juventus Stadium on Saturday night, relinquishing the Serie A lead, though they remain just a point behind the Old Lady.

“Juventus have always been the favourites,” Sarri’s agent Alessandro Pellegrini told Radio Crc.

“Juve couldn't do what they always do, and that’s a compliment to Napoli. We have to stop saying that the Coach is the difference between Juventus and Napoli, it’s gratuitously malicious.

“There’s no point using every opportunity to criticise. I’ve heard from Sarri, and he’s extremely fired-up. It was a good call, we didn’t talk about the game much.

“I was there on Saturday, Juventus Stadium was silent, there was no air of celebration. The reaction to the defeat is what will be important.

“They’ll have to use their anger for the next few games, I’m sure Sarri will have everyone fired-up.

“We’ve always said that Juve are the team to beat, [Coach Max] Allegri faced Napoli like a provincial team, like Carpi. They only caused us problems in the 88th minute.

“Their revenue allows them to put on [Simone] Zaza after [Paulo] Dybala and [Alvaro] Morata. The revenues made the difference.

“It was a hard-fought, tactical game but Napoli weren’t given a football lesson.”

The Vesuviani face Villarreal in the Europa League this week, and Pellegrini insists the competition is a priority.

“It’s an important game against Villarreal. The Napoli fans are unique, 3000 coming to the airport [after the Juventus game] gives you chills.

“The city deserves something important, I don't know if we’ll succeed but we’ll try. The Europa League isn’t the Champions League, but it’s an important trophy.

“From here on every game is important, they’re all finals.”
