The Kaio Jorge story continues to progress, with Santos seemingly now ready to sell him to Juventus for a small fee, accepting he’ll leave them for free in January anyway.

According to Goal Brazil, Kaio Jorge was not training with the Santos squad today and will not feature in the Copa do Brasil game against Juazeirense.

The club is believed to be furious with the 19-year-old for signing a pre-contract agreement with Juventus, although he is legally able to do so, as his contract with Santos only runs to December 31.

The Brazilians had hoped to sell him this summer to Benfica, who were offering €5m plus a player, while Milan were ready to bid €3m.

However, Juve swept in and within hours sent Santos a letter confirming they were negotiating directly with Kaio Jorge, although Sportitalia claim that was practically at the same time as they got him to sign the pre-contract agreement, so was not a warning so much as a declaration.

Now Goal Brazil and others report Santos realise they’ve got no chance of making any money out of this unless they accept a deal with Juventus for this summer.

The offer on the table is believed to be anything from €1m to €2m for the striker, who has six goals in 10 caps for Brazil at Under-17 level.
