Santos have given up on “expensive” Milan defender Alex, but confirm “many Serie A clubs are asking me about Gabigol.”
President Modesto Roma spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about the negotiations with the Rossoneri.
“We are no longer interested in Alex. We recognise his quality, of course, but at this moment he’s too expensive for us. The move is not feasible, also because his wages are quite high.”
The Santos chief was asked if there were any other talks going on in Italy.

“Yes, for example many Serie A clubs are asking me about Gabigol. We talked about him going to Milan as part of the Alex deal a month ago, but then the matter was dropped.
“In any case, we are not lacking for requests from Serie A.”
Full name Gabriel Barbosa, the 18-year-old came up through the Santos youth academy and last season scored eight goals with four assists in 31 games.
