The full-back appeared set to leave the Nerazzurri over the summer, but revealed that he stayed following talks with Coach Roberto Mancini.

The 24-year-old also discussed how the plethora of new signings at San Siro are settling in, praising the ‘leader’ Stevan Jovetic.

“I stayed at Inter thanks to a series of discussions I had with Mancini,” Santon said to Tuttosport.

“He explained to me how he wants me to move on the pitch and I’ve given him my full availability, so I’m still here.

“This is my home, I’ve been in Milan since I was 14 years old and I want to show that I really want to stay at Inter for a long time.

“The derby with Milan? My objectives for the team and myself are to win and reach nine points, and to play well to attract the attention of Antonio Conte.

“The new signings? Felipe Melo and Adem Ljajic know Serie A so it’s easier for them, while the other new arrivals need a bit of time to reach a complete understanding with the rest of the group.

“Jovetic is a leader, he decided the match against Atalanta despite not having a great game, while against Carpi, as well as scoring two goals, he also played well.”
