Gianluca Sansone will become the first ever Italian player in Azerbaijan after flying in to sign for Neftci Baku.

It is an interesting career twist for the 31-year-old centre-forward, who is currently a free agent after terminating his contract with Serie B side Novara in January.

According to multiple sources including Sportitalia and the Gazzetta dello Sport, Sansone is already in Azerbaijan and will sign the contract to June 2020 after a medical this morning.

He will be the first ever Italian player to sign for an Azerbaijani club.
