Sannino had previously been temporarily replaced amid fear of the Coronavirus, as he had travelled to Italy last month.

But he was back in the dugout when Honved lost 5-1 to Kisvarda in their last match behind closed doors. The Hungarian FA decided then to suspend all games and follow the safety measures taken all over Europe.

Today, the club announced the termination of the former Palermo and Siena coach’s contract and that Istvan Pisont will take over temporarily.

“In light of the current situation, Giuseppe Sannino has terminated his contract by mutual agreement with the managers of Honved,” the club said in an official statement. “The coach Valerio Zuddas will remain until April 30, the rest will return to their home country over the weekend.

“Istvan Pisont will temporarily take on the role of Sannino. Preparing players for future matches according to individual training plans, together with coach Zuddas, during the break.

“Honved FC would like to thank the whole staff for the excellent work and wish everyone the best for the future!”
