The 4-4-2 boss, 56, got his first taste of Serie A football in 2011-12 when he kept Siena in the top-flight.
He spent last season at Palermo, but was unable to keep them in the Division.
Sannino has reportedly already rescinded his contract with the Flying Donkeys and could fly to England as soon as this afternoon.
