Inter forward Alexis Sanchez has suffered a muscle injury during training with Chile and will miss the first phase of Copa America 2021.

The Chilean national team announced the bad news today, as the forward has been forced to stop after suffering a muscle injury towards the end of yesterday’s training.

The statement reveals the estimated recovery time exceeds the first phase of the Copa America and Sanchez will therefore miss the match against Argentina on Monday.

He is also expected to miss the match against Boliva on June 18, Uruguay on June 21 and Paraguay on June 24.

But the Nerazzurri forward will stay with Chile to complete his rehabilitation with the medical staff of the national team, hoping to return in time to contribute.

The 32-year-old, capped 137 times by Chile, played 30 times in Serie A when Inter won their first Scudetto in 11 years in 2020-21.
