Sanchez on the verge of Inter departure amid talks with Marseille

Reports from Chile suggest that Alexis Sanchez could terminate his contract with Inter tomorrow ahead of a possible free transfer to Olympique Marseille.

The Nerazzurri have been desperate to shift the 33-year-old Chilean forward this summer, a year ahead of his contract expiry, due to his incredibly high wages. Sanchez earns around €7m net per season with Inter and removing that burden off the wage bill significantly helps the club’s budget.

As reported by Chilean newspaper Al Aire Libre in Cooperativa, Sanchez’s agent Fernando Felicevich is hoping to agree a severance package with Inter tomorrow, allowing the Chilean to become a free agent. Talks are currently ongoing with Marseille and a move to the French Riviera is looking more and more likely now.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City forward made 38 appearances across all competitions last season for Inter, for a total of 1273 minutes. In that time, he scored nine goals and provided five assists.
