Reports from Chile suggest that Alexis Sanchez could terminate his contract with Inter tomorrow ahead of a possible free transfer to Olympique Marseille.

The Nerazzurri have been desperate to shift the 33-year-old Chilean forward this summer, a year ahead of his contract expiry, due to his incredibly high wages. Sanchez earns around €7m net per season with Inter and removing that burden off the wage bill significantly helps the club’s budget.

As reported by Chilean newspaper Al Aire Libre in Cooperativa, Sanchez’s agent Fernando Felicevich is hoping to agree a severance package with Inter tomorrow, allowing the Chilean to become a free agent. Talks are currently ongoing with Marseille and a move to the French Riviera is looking more and more likely now.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City forward made 38 appearances across all competitions last season for Inter, for a total of 1273 minutes. In that time, he scored nine goals and provided five assists.

  1. He actually performed well for Inter (when healthy) scoring some extremely clutch goals. His ability to drop deep and add to the progression out of his own team’s half and then run back into attack is really something unique that he contributes. His salary is from a bygone era and he was injured a fair amount but his on pitch contribution shouldn’t be overlooked. That extra-time goal as Juve and Inter were preparing for pens was pure sporting delight and he had a few of those.

  2. His childish red card at Anfield overshadowed anything he had done. That’s something a Balotelli would do, not someone who is being paid as an experienced professional.
And then playing hardball against Inter‘s transfer strategy this summer.
    Adios

  3. I agree that he was clutch last season in important matches. Theirs no question about that, buuuuuttt let not forget about his clumsy red card against Liverpool when the momentum was shifting in Inters favor after the Martinez goal. That lazy red card completely undercut all chances Inter had from getting back into that match. So yes Sanchez had some keys moments but also some blunders as well.
