The Rossoneri were planning to vacate the iconic stadium, and won the right to construct a new stadium in the Portello area of the city.
However, following a dispute with Fondazione Fiera, which owns the land, President Silvio Berlusconi declared they’d be staying at Giuseppe Meazza, much to the annoyance of Inter.
“I can’t speak about Milan staying at San Siro, it’s not my area of expertise,” joint-CEO of the Rossoneri Galliani told reporters as he arrived for a metting of the Lega Serie A.
“I bring the players in, then they tell me where to take them to.
“There isn’t a situation in Europe like the one we have here in Milan. Ourselves and Inter have virtually the same numbers when you look at it, the number of fans is very similar.
“We’re in the same city, we have the same goals, ambitions and interests.
“If Milan and Inter were just two companies, and there wasn’t the emotional factor, there’d have been a merger 50 years ago, costs would have been cut by 50 per cent, and revenue would be almost double, but not quite.
“In football, however, that’s impossible. Milan and Inter are two separate things."
Galliani also ruled out any legal battle between the two clubs over the stadium.
"Inter and Milan cannot afford to be at war. Our collaboration will continue. Quarrels between Inter and Milan are fruits of the imagination, it's like a couple, who can argue but they don't get divorced."
