FIGC President Giancarlo Abete confirms Milan’s San Siro is a candidate for the 2016 Champions League Final.
The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza was passed over by the Italian Federation as a host venue for the 2020 European Championships, preferring the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
This was reportedly because San Siro needs a lot of restructuring work in order to be up to code for UEFA.
“Aside from the fact that Milan does need to do some work, we hope it can host the 2016 Champions League Final,” said FIGC President Abete.
“In the moment it is chosen, that would mean the conditions are there to make it work.”
