Sampdoria midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard continues to attract attention at Euro 2020, as after scoring a stunner against Russia, he set up Denmark’s opener with Wales.

The midfielder turns 21 next week and made a €6.75m move from Nordsjaelland to Samp in September 2020.

He was allowed time to settle into Serie A with 35 appearances, most of them off the bench, scoring two goals and adding four assists.

However, Damsgaard’s profile has risen considerably at Euro 2020 with his performances for Denmark.

He scored a spectacular long-range strike against Russia in the group stage and today provided the assist for Kasper Dolberg’s wonderful curler in the Round of 16 against Wales.

Damsgaard gathered the ball in midfield, turned Juventus player Aaron Ramsey and sent Dolberg free on the edge of the area.

He has already earned interest from Milan and Barcelona, but more clubs are bound to step up and ask for information after these performances.

Damsgaard is a committed environmentalist who regularly posts on social media about initiatives to help combat climate change.

He also convinced his teammates to purchase carbon credits every time they are forced to fly.
