It is a real relegation battle on Sunday at the Marassi and these Sampdoria vs. Verona predictions suggest that it could be the home side that suffers further disappointment.

Sampdoria vs. Verona odds

1 – Verona to win – 31/20

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 4/7

3 – Both teams not to score – 3/4

4 – Adolfo Gaich to score at anytime – 10/3

5 – Verona to win 1-0 – 6/1

It is not looking good for Sampdoria. The club is in turmoil off the pitch and may well face bankruptcy at the end of the season. But matters on the field are not that much better, with just one win since the end of October.

There was a spirited display away against Juventus last weekend – and a result that could justifiably be disputed by Samp fans, as their side were victims of some controversial refereeing decisions. But luck tends to desert clubs at the wrong end of the table.

Sampdoria are now 12 points from safety and face a Verona side on Sunday that is also fighting desperately for their Serie A status. Unfortunately for the home team, it does seem as though there could be further disappointment.

Verona may have only won two points in their last four games, but there has been a definite improvement from the dark days of last year when the club lost ten in a row and dropped to the bottom of the table.

Marco Zaffaroni took over at that point and he has been able to inspire his players to a number of good results. The Gialloblu’s league position is still perilous but there can be some hope that they can secure safety.

Injuries have been a problem all season, so Zaffaroni will have to make do with a patched up side. That’s why it could be Adolfo Gaich who finds the net to give the visitors a narrow victory at the Marassi on Sunday.

Sampdoria team news

Dejan Stanković continues to battle against an ever-growing injury list as he attempts to figure out how to keep Samp up this season. He will also be without Tomás Rincón on Sunday, as the Venezuelan midfielder is suspended. Lorenzo Malagrida could come in as a replacement.

Verona team news

Marco Zaffaroni will also be using the full extent of his squad as he battles against injuries as well as the impending drop to Serie B. He will hope that last weekend’s goalscorer, Simone Verdi has shrugged off his slight injury to start here – but could look to Milan Durić if he has to make another change to his starting XI.
