The newly relegated hosts are in action once again but these Sampdoria vs. Empoli predictions suggest that the result will all too familiar for the fans. With four games left to play, Empoli are all-but safe from the drop zone with an 11-point cushion.
Sampdoria vs. Empoli odds
1 – Empoli to win – 13/10
2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 10/11
3 – One team to score – 6/5
4 – Nicolo Cambiaghi to score first – 5/1
5 – Empoli to win both halves – 14/5
Sampdoria welcome Empoli to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris for some Monday evening Serie A action. Neither side has much to play for, with the hosts relegated following last weekend’s defeat and the visitors confident of their future for next season.
Paolo Zanetti’s side come into Monday’s game having won two in a row for only the second time this season and we back them to extend their run with a win at the Marassi.
Despite sitting 14th in the league, with limited chance of progression, Empoli fans have plenty of reason to be positive about this season. In addition to navigating a potentially tricky relegation battle, Paolo Zanetti has done a fantastic job with the emergence of young talents over the past nine months.
In Guglielmo Vicario, the Azzurri have a goalkeeper that is coveted by many of the top clubs in Serie A, while Tommaso Baldanzi and Nicolo Cambiaghi have burst onto the scene as exciting attacking talents. The latter has proven his ability across the front line and, having scored a goal in each of his last three games, is our tip to score anytime this week.
The future appears far less bright for Sampdoria, who have struggled throughout this campaign. The Blucerchiati have the worst attacking record in the league coming into the weekend, with just 20 goals in 34 games – and none in their last three games. Against a strong Empoli team, it is difficult to see this changing and it may be worth a wager on an Azzurri clean sheet.
The visitors are hardly goal machines themselves though, with the performance of Mattia Destro and Francesco Caputo particularly disappointing. The two veteran forwards have just four goals between them this season, despite the latter making 18 starts. A bet on a low-scoring game might well provide a solid return, with the last two encounters between the teams seeing under 2.5 goals.
