Sampdoria are preparing a new deal for defender Maya Yoshida, who wants to remain in Genoa.

The Japanese defender arrived on loan from Southampton in January and his contract with the Premier League side expired in July.

The 31-year-old centre-back reportedly wants to continue working with coach Claudio Ranieri and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Blucerchiati are working to extend his stay until June 2022.

Yoshida played 14 times in Serie A 2019-20 but must take a pay cut to continue at the Marassi.
