Sampdoria director Carlo Osti reveals the club haven’t received ‘a real call’ for their starlet Mikkel Damsgaard.

Damsgaard, 21, shined at the Euros with Denmark, scoring two goals in five appearances during the competition.

According to reports in Italy, Tottenham and Barcelona scouted the player during EURO 2020, but Juventus and Milan have also been linked with securing the services of the Denmark international.

However, Sampdoria haven’t received any formal bid yet.

“We haven’t received a real call yet,” Osti told Il Secolo XIX.

“The COVID pandemic has highlighted a new tendency, the fewer players you have, the richer you are. Quality, not quantity, makes the difference right now.

“Today, a manager must recognise the players’ qualities, making as few mistakes as possible.”

Sampdoria arguably did that with Damsgaard having secured his services from Nordsjaelland for just €6.5m one year ago.

The player is now valued at €40m and Sampdoria are unwilling to accept swap deals to sell their starlets.

Damsgaard scored two goals and delivered four assists in 37 appearances with Sampdoria last term.
