Sampdoria are stepping up negotiations for Chelsea and England hitman Tammy Abraham after Zenit blocked Sebastian Driussi.

Their first choice for the attack had been Driussi, but his agent declared today without hesitation that the Argentine would remain in St Petersburg.

According to Sportitalia, this means the Blucerchiati will push harder to get Abraham from Chelsea, although it’s likely to be a loan with option to buy.

Chelsea probably intend to retain a buy-back option, because the 20-year-old is already a sensation for club and country.

He has scored seven goals in 19 games for England at Under-21 level and already has two senior caps under his belt.

Abraham spent last season on loan at Swansea City, scoring eight goals with five assists.
