The Court of Genoa have given Sampdoria four months of protection from creditors to help them find a buyer, reports detail.

It’s been a difficult season for the Blucerchiati on and off the pitch. Poor results have left the Ligurian club wallowing in the relegation zone and financial issues have put them in a tough spot, struggling to pay wages and meet their financial commitments.

Owner Massimo Ferrero, who was forced to step down as president after being arrested in December 2021 for unrelated charges, has caused tensions to rise after rejecting an offer from American investors Merlyn Partners.

As detailed by Gianluca Di Marzio, the Court of Genoa have issued a decree protecting Sampdoria from enforcement or precautionary actions by their creditors, valid for four months, to help them find new owners. The decree is valid from February 6 to June 6, and all operations must be put in place by this end date.
